Ulcinj, August 20, 2016 – The film festival Seanema this year marks its second edition, to be held from 15th to 18th September, 2016. The project was started a non-profit organization IACT ( “I act”) in September last year, bringing so a completely new event on the cultural scene of Ulcinj during the summer season.
Festival Seanema audience’s attention is focused on the various types of current social issues with the aim to inform and raise the awareness regarding the phenomena that disturb the social peace and economic stability in the country, the region and beyond.
We recall that in the framework of the festival last year treated two themes, the fight against corruption and the rule of law. Through screenings of documentaries and accompanying panel discussions audience had the opportunity to learn more about this social phenomena and to discuss with them the well-known and reputable researchers and academics from various fields, such as science, the arts, civil society and politics.
This year the film festival Seanema deals with the theme of the fight against gender inequality and violent religious extremism. NGOs IACT tends to focus the viewer’s attention to the gap that exists in the public discourse when it comes to these social phenomena.
How our society is awakened when it comes to (lack of) emancipation of our women and girls, as well as whether there is a collective awareness of the way in which gender equality is collapsing substantial progress of society? What steps need to be taken in order to better emancipated young girls and women? Is it for this purpose sufficient involvement of institutional support and mechanisms, such as the promotion of policies to increase gender equality?
It also will address the violent (religious) extremism, a phenomenon that almost threatens political stability and the stability of the developed Western countries.
How is our young people prone to falling to under the influence of various religious current or sect? How is our society with its ethos of faith skilled to rise above these phenomena? Are we aware of how many other causes which favor violent behavior to the extreme limits?
During the festival days the audience will have a chance to with the famous and renowned scholars and academics from various fields, such as science, art, politics, theology, civil society, discussed these and other topics that are directly related to gender inequality and violent extremism,
